Internet Phone Adapters

Interested in Internet Phone Adapters? Who wouldn’t be? The Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology has made telecommunications very affordable for the general public.

This technology has also made talking to people from the other side of the world possible. Nowadays, your regular and traditional telephone can now be connected to the internet with the use of these adapters available almost everywhere.

Not only has this technology bridged people overseas together with their families onshore, it has also made traditional phone calling very affordable.

With all these benefits at hand, there is no better thing to do than go with the flow. Vonage, the most popular provider of VOIP, has reached hundreds of thousands of customers in a very short span of time.

If you already have a VOIP provider and is interested in having your own Internet Phone Adapters, here are some terminologies you may encounter as you shop for these new-age devices.

1. Router – usually wireless, the functionality of the phone adapter that allows it to share internet connections with several computers at the same time.

This means that aside from you adapter enabling your phone to function through VOIP, it will be able to supply internet connection signals to your computers at the same time.

The connection it can bring could either be through wireless (wi-fi), or through traditional wired connections.

2. Gateway – this is a more complicated device that receives signals from your internet service provider and translates these signals into electronic impulses that could be understood by your telephones and computers. If an adapter is a gateway by itself, you would no longer need a modem to connect your home to the internet.

3. RJ-11 – as most of you would know, this is the traditional phone cable. Most adapters would have two plugs to enable two devices to be plugged onto it.

4. RJ-45 – is the Ethernet cable. This is the plug that looks similar to your phone plug but is a little wider. This is used by all computers to receive data signals via wired connection.

Well, these are the basic terminologies you should be familiar with when purchasing Internet Phone Adapters. The others are too high-faluting that you may leave them with the engineers themselves.
